Chemical Peels

Peels are a way of exfoliating the skin and have many benefits. They remove dead skin cells, using acidic substances, and come in different strengths which go into different depths of the skin, depending on the type of peel. Chemical peels can promote new cell turnover which can lead to new collagen stimulation. Chemical peels are used to help reduce the appearance of fine lines, improve the appearance of sun damage, help treat acne, and reduce discoloration such as dark spots and pigmentation.

Chemical Peel Systems

Glycolic Acid Peel

Glycolic Acid is part of a group of active compounds known as AHA’s (alpha hydroxy acids). Glycolic acid is derived from sugar cane and has the ability to penetrate the skin deeply and easily because of its small molecular structure. When this peel is applied to the skin, it will loosen the “glue” that holds the skin together, causing the skins old, dead cells to shed.

Glycolic peels are excellent for:

  • Improving hyperpigmentation
  • Dry Skin
  • Fine lines & Wrinkles
  • Refining surface textures
  • Environmentally Distressed Skin
  • Combination/Oily/Breakout-Prone Skin

Lactic Acid Peel

Lactic Acid is derived from a milk source. It works by breaking down the “glue” that holds the cells of the skin together. Lactic Acid works more on the surface of the skin, therefore making it a gentler peel than Glycolic Acid. Lactic Acid has excellent softening abilities and works best on dry, more mature skin.

Lactic Acid Peels are excellent for:

  • Sensitive Skin
  • Dry/Mature Skin
  • Improving Fine Lines & Wrinkles
  • Improving skin tone & texture
  • Clients new to Facial Peels

For those with extremely sensitive skin, this peel is available in a milder form with evening primrose oil to help soothe the skin. Can also be used after a Microdermabrasion treatment
